Autumn is for Bedrooms Too!

One of the first things to go on sale are seasonal themed bed ensembles. Even before Christmas you can find tons of snowman and snow flake printed bedspreads, shams and quilts. The same is true of Fall themed sheets and coverlets by early November. I picked the iridescent leaf coverlet up on an end counter last Fall in Khols.  The matching shams were gone but the rusty chenille bedspread and a pillow from the "Caroline Home and Garden" warehouse will do just fine. Gives my bedroom a quick lift!

Although its not the style of decorating I use when I stage properties to sell, my house is filled with my "collections" which reflect my style and personality.  Above part of my collection of vintage hats, muffs, costume jewelry, handbags and clothing. When I posted this picture of my bedroom on facebook, people asked, do you really have tea there?  I REALLY do!  There aren't too many quiet spots at Red Barn View and this is one of them.  My bedroom window which has essentially been my bedroom since I was 18, overlooks the back view to the woods and pond, the back portion of the old Broadhurst Farm. Like my parents, Jeff and I have left many of the fine old trees which lined the old road the cows trekked down when they went to the pond to drink. I take the phone off the hook, heat the tea pot up, stick the cozy on and sit at this window and watch the wildlife. On our nearly five acres we have deer, possum, fox, coyote, squirrels and and on rare occasions, a Bob Cat, although I have only heard him.  We also have an amazing variety of birds who frequent our feeders including numerous woodpeckers.  A new visitor here this year, is a small hawk, but he and I may tie up if he does not leave my cardinals alone.
